What are the effects of pollution?

Environment Pollution is the major problem that the world is facing today. It increases day by day and cause damage to earth. It consists of 5 basic types of pollution including air, water, soil, light and noise.

What is Pollution?

Pollution is the introduction of pollutants into environment. These contaminants or pollutants include chemical substances, pesticides, sewage, foreign substances and many more.

Adverse Effects of Pollution on Earth include:

Impacts on the health of living organisms

Environmental deterioration

Global warming

Reduced efficiency of farm lands

Depletion of the ozone layer etc.

What is Air Pollution?

This is harmful form of pollution and caused by smoke emitted by vehicles, chemicals and fumes emitted by factories and industries. Air pollution can cause acid rain due to excessive presence of Carbon Monoxide, Sulphur Oxide and Nitrogen Oxides in air. Air pollution is harmful for animals, human beings and environment. It adversely affects human health and cause asthma, lung cancer, allergies, and different breathing problems. It is also responsible for damage to flora and fauna.

 What is Soil Pollution?

Soil pollution or soil contamination occurs due to polluted water, acid rain, Soil Pollution by Sewage treatment and fertilizers. Soil pollution leads to bad crops. Some chemicals introduce in soil and cause pollution. These chemicals include heavy metals, hydrocarbons, MTBE, pesticides, herbicides and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Contamination of Water and Soil by Sewage treatment and improper waste management is very common. Leaks in sewer line, improper sewage disposal, leaks in septic tanks, septic tank failure and  Improper waste management can cause soil, water and air pollution.

What are the effects of land pollution?

Land pollution is generally caused by agricultural activities, deforestation, overcrowded landfills, nuclear wastes, mining activities, industrialization, and sewage treatment. In order to prevent land pollution, people have to take actions. They should recycle and reduce the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides. They should avoid using plastic and products come with excessive plastic packaging hat end up on landfill.

A proper waste management is required to reduce pollution. Sewer Leaks help find out the septic tank failure or leakage from sewer lines by using various new techniques to facilitate waste treatment.
